President Bush on Monday said, "Their plan and my
plan ...have got commonalities, and we're
going to work together to get Congress to
enact a comprehensive plan.
I believe there's an appetite in the halls of
Congress to become less
dependent on oil. I believe there's a
knowledge in Congress that when
we spend money on cellulosic ethanol that will
make us less dependent

ent's Radio Address In
his weekly radio address President Bush said,
"Two key challenges we face are reducing our
dependence on oil and expanding access to
affordable health care. I have asked Congress to
take several vital steps to address these
issues. ... We've set important goals, and now
Republicans and Democrats must work together to
make them a reality. Together, we can reduce our
dependence on oil, improve health care for more
of our citizens, and make life better for all our
citizens." Au

Initiatives
President Bush on Thursday said, "There is no
question in my mind that a proper role for the
federal government is to help the poor and the
elderly and the diseased get health care. We'll
do that. And to the extent that these important
programs need to be reformed and strengthened, we
will do that, as well. ... And so we will do our
duty at the federal level, and when we find
deficiencies in federal programs we will work to
correct them, for the good of the citizens and
the taxpayers." Fact Sheet: Affordable, Accessible, And
